Car Checks That Help You Spot Problems Early
Regular, repeatable checks can reveal changes before they become expensive or unsafe. Use the vehicle handbook and seek professional help whenever a result is unclear.
Quick checks around the car
Look for tire damage and pressure changes, fluid beneath the car, broken lights, new body damage, and anything hanging or loose. Check when the car is safely parked on level ground.
Under the hood
With the engine off and cool, inspect fluid levels according to the handbook, visible hoses, battery condition, and unusual residue. Never open a hot cooling system.
Listen to the car
New noises, vibration, smells, warning lights, pulling, or changes in braking deserve attention. Record when the symptom occurs to help a technician diagnose it.
Important: These checks are general guidance and not a substitute for professional mechanical or safety inspection.
